As part of the 2nd annual Waterloo Reads initiative Isabel Cisterna will join a distinguished panel of book enthusiasts on Tuesday October 7th, from 7-9pm, at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex as they defend their choice the 10 top books of 2014. The Ontario Library Association's '10 Champions' consists of a diverse selection of Evergreen-nominated Canadian fiction and non-fiction books. Isabel will try and persuade the panel that her book, The Cat by Edeet Ravel, deserves to be selected. "This is a book that really conveys the experience of trauma and recovery on a very person level. It's sad but also very inspiring."
Kultrún: The Sound and Rhythm of World Music
July 11-12, 2014 Neruda Arts presents Kultrún, its new free festival in the Uptown Waterloo Public Square.
As we did with LatinFest, Neruda Arts will once again light up the Public Square with a great line-up of local, national and international artists who draw on traditional forms and expressions to create exciting new hybrid styles of world music. Kultrún is also a family friendly celebration of diversity with workshops, activities, and programming for all ages.
Latitudes Storytellers will come bearing their narratives to Neruda Arts' Kultrún World Music Festival July 11-12 in the Uptown Waterloo Public Square. Like Neruda Arts' other community partners who will be leading workshops on everything from African dance, tai chi, shadow puppet theatre and origami, Latitudes will help support the new festival's second programming pillar - all-ages, interactive and multidisciplinary workshops!
