Join us for Neruda’s 1st event of 2012—A Valentine’s Banquet and Salsa Dance Fiesta featuring El Gremio!

 El Gremio, a 10-piece salsa band direct from Chile, will generate the heat with the sensual sounds of salsa, funk, cumbia and jazz in the luxurious surroundings of Bingemans’ Embassy Room.

 This fundraiser is the perfect way to support Neruda Productions AND give that special someone the classiest date they’ve had in years (or months)? Join us for this celebration even if you don’t dance and especially if you are single!

Neruda Fundraiser and Valentine’s Dinner and Dance Fiesta includes a 3-course meal followed by the irresistible sounds of El Gremio. Whether you are a fabulous dancer, or enjoy watching fabulous dancing and listening to fabulous Latin music, El Gremio will warm your heart and lights sparks on the dance floor.

You can ignite the embers of love by supporting a great season of concerts, festivals, and workshops and the day-to-day operations of Neruda Productions. Proceeds from this fundraiser go to pay artists’ fees - help Neruda Productions show its artists how much we value their talents.

El Gremio will be showcasing music from their new CD, Abriendo Puertas (Opening Doors) due for release while the band is in Canada. Some songs have a distinctive Latin rhythm, guaranteed to spread the excitement and party atmosphere that El Gremio is famous for, while others are steeped in the traditions of Chilean folk music but with a style unique to El Gremio.

Latin Jazz Band

On a cold day in August 2008, in the Chilean city of Puerto Varas, a group of friends attracted to Latin music joined forces and brought to life a band they christened, El Gremio, or “The Guild”. The band’s mission was to spread their love of salsa music across Southern Chile. 

 In time El Gremio began incorporating the sounds of pop, cumbia, funk, and jazz into their music giving the band a wholly original style with all lyrics and music written and composed by band members and reflecting their life and identity as Southern musicians.

BE

A great initiative started in 2011, BE, or the Belonging & Empowering program—provided training for New Canadian and Emerging artists in areas such as Marketing & PR, Portfolio Development, Presentation, Networking, Professional Development, and more… Stay tuned – we’re expanding the program in 2012.
